With the fashion calendar just beginning, and the just ended series of fashion weeks (NY, London, Milan, Paris) it was so hard to catch up on them all. Ya know stuck up in my corporate workstation for eight hours a day Haha! Anyways, here are my top picks on just a few collections. Ah not really top as I always find it hard to trim down my choices to a few. Haha! Starting from the latest fashion shows. Hayyyy I wish I have an extra 24 hours just to catch up, something like October 3.5 but it still has 24 hours in it, an invisible day between Friday and Saturday sort of.

Fashion Friday: Amsale Spring 2015

In light of my December wedding endeavor, I’ve been in constant nourishing of my supposed to be creativeness and ingenuity in designing the perfect wedding dress and entourage dresses for my first ever bridal entourage. I am blessed beyond measure for the trust given to me by the couple. That is why I am trying my best and pouring my heart out on this. During my free time I browse through different creations and of different designers and stores. Below are some of this week’s finds.

This post also features Amsale’s Spring 2015 collection. One of Amsale’s design principles, which I critically consider, is “Make Believe”. I try to place myself in the shoes of my client imagining myself being on the place and the occasion where the dress would be worn – “making believe that I am already there”. In my December bride’s case, I try to fascinate myself as much as I can the details of her wedding, making sure I know where their wedding would take place, the reception, the set-up and even the couple’s love story. I want to understand her style and personality. I don’t want my bride (and my clients) wearing any of my creations not reflecting a good association of my aesthetics and their persona.

Going back, I really like how clean, dainty, flowy and elegant the pieces of this collection are.

Fashion Friday: Giambattista Valli Fall 2014 Couture

It's the Paris Couture Week Fall 2014 and my eyes have been obsessing on so many pieces from different collections. But as I browse through my handy apps on my iPad, it was Giambattista Valli's collection who first caught my attention. It was pure inspiration to me. I like its silhouettes and the cuts. The pieces, as to my judgment, are not so fancy and maintain their own definition of elegance. It indeed gave justice to "from the bed to the blooming gardens" peg. Below are my top 23. I really like this collection it was so hard to reduce it to a top 10 or below.

Wednesday Inspiration: Anna Wintour Career Pieces of Advice

I came across this article on the pieces of advice from the Anna Wintour. May mga pinsan siya si Anna Summer, Anna Autumn, Anna Fall. Ang joke joke. Moving on, she is the EIC of American Vogue, for those of you who are clueless. Definitely a fashion expert and successful in her chosen field. When I watched her in September Issue, on how she manages all of that pages of Vogue, I can't help but question myself, someone who wants to be in the fashion industry, definitely somewhere like Anna Wintour's place. Ni dumi yata ng kuko ni Anna Wintour di ko level. Hahaha! Anyway, sharing below some wise words from Anna (yes first name basis) which I know most of us can relate, fashion-career-related or not. 

Tip 1: Learn from the pros first. It’s okay to work under someone.
“The only thing I worry a little bit about—going straight from school to starting your own business—is not that many succeed.” –Anna Wintour

Tip 2: Think about your long-term goals.
“It’s possible in today’s world to be instantly famous, whether it’s through Instagram or whatever platform it may be, but it’s a very different matter to be successful financially in the long term.” –Anna Wintour

Tip 3: Your personality and presentation matter. A lot.
“In today’s world you have to interact. You can’t really be some difficult, shy person who is not able to look somebody in the face. You have to present yourself. You have to know how to talk about your vision, your focus, and what you believe in. If you can’t be passionate about who you are and what you are doing: how can they [your audience] be?” –Anna Wintour ​

Tip 4: Get employed, even if it’s not your dream job.

Tip 5: Make sure you have a mentor.

Fashion Friday: Mango's Spring Selection for Special Occasions

Inspiration: Ashley Woodson Bailey

I was four years old when I discovered flowers. It was honeysuckle vine growing wildly up a neighbor’s fence and it smelled like candy. The most delicious and sweet candy I had ever come across, and I wanted to eat it.  From there I started to notice all the beautiful flowers that grew in my native land of South Coastal Texas. Everywhere I turned I was surrounded by lantana, bougainvillea and oleander and I loved all of it.  The colors.  The overgrown lushness of the terrain was intoxicating.  It wasn’t until many years later that I realized I wanted flowers to be apart of my everyday life.  My years as a floral designer, mother and wife have led me to where I stand today with a deep-rooted desire to create something lasting.  A way to preserve a memory or a thought or a movement with forever flowers. Stumbling upon her site is such a beautiful discovery. I think only a few people do NOT appreciate flowers or anything flower-y/floral. No wonder it's one of the top choices to give to someone who needs a picker-upper. But Woodson has indeed a different way of preserving the beauty of such a wonderful creation, even separating it into light and dark relaying different feels, or maybe ako lang because I'm such an emo kid haha! At the back of my mind I just want to put all of the flowers she captured into a fabric and turn it into an emo-ish floral collection haha! Anyway enjoy the photos below grabbed from her site.

Fashion Friday Inspiration

I must admit that the floral background got me. I stumbled upon this 2014 Claire Pettibone Couture Bridal collection while having my usual rounds on wedding blogs. It obviously got my attention and ended up posting it here for some inspiration. It’s dramatically beautiful. The gowns in the collection are nothing really grand, nothing of those balloon skirts and elegant bodice, but they’re graceful and charming and there’s something in the intricate details and lovely back minutiae. I think I’m having an increased fondness for lace and chiffon or fabrics similar to these.

Fashion Friday: D&G's Enchanted Sicily

Dolce & Gabbana's "Enchanted Sicily" for Fall 2014 R-T-W collection

I just looooooove this wonderful and indeed enchanting collection! Don't you? My eyes have been feasting on these pieces since it paraded the runway in Milan few days ago. The texture, the cuts, the embellishments, appliques everywhere! Some remained fairy-like flowy. If this collection aims to take its spectators to an enchanting world, it did take me there. I'm seeing the forest, the flowers, even weeds, moss, the trees, trunks, vines, all with an enchanting aura. I'm not good in giving reviews of collections, duh ano bang alam ko sa mga kung anu-anong terminologies and "technicalities". But this RTW collection got me.

I like how Alice + Olivia is a good set of I feel like wearing during my typical Mondays-to-Sundays with some special dinners or occasions in between. Versace on the other hand gives me some sophisticated vibrancy. :)

Each time I watch this video, I always tear up! These two weirdos!

I've been an avid reader of Patty Laurel and was a witness to her love stories. The day she got married, I felt like, I personally know her and was so happy for her! The Pats are just the cutest weirdo couple I've known!

Their vows are by far the best I've heard! I pray for their lifelong joyous marriage! So sweet! This will be my wedding peg. Not too grand. It is simple yet classic and elegant.
