Of clothes and outfits

0

Just recently I had my self-imposed “spring” cleaning and boy was I really surprised by literally heaps and heaps of clothing I own! Yes, I had my shopaholic days; I had my hoarding days because I LOVE CLOTHES. I love dressing up maybe because I grew up with my Mom buying me new clothes regularly. We used to own a tailoring shop and so I will have my Sunday dresses custom-made just because. I am a frustrated creative persona but a self-confessed wallflower; and one thing that I make sure is that in my manner of dressing up, these traits would be apparent. I realized how/what I feel inside manifests on how I dress which then translates to how I face the day, how I talk to people, how I perform my tasks. Do you also feel this way? Others may view dressing up as something just for a mere cover up; but dressing up is something that I don’t take too lightly, most especially as a corporate woman who has choosing the outfit part of my daily routine.
the heaps of clothes I own and to be discarded!
p.s. I am holding a preloved by Merie sale

Of course there are busy days that planning my outfit is not something I must allocate a huge chunk of time. There are days that I hate the standard sizes in shops because my body type is on the super skinny side hence the struggle. There are days that I blankly stare on my closet and feel like I have nothing to wear. There are days that I imagine a certain piece, or maybe I remember some clothing piece online and yet I can't find it anywhere but I feel like the need to own it and wear it. This is one simple task I overcome every single day and when I pick and finally put on the right outfit it feels so good that I feel like I can overcome the world! I feel like I can check all of my to-do lists for the day. I feel more confident and vibrant. I feel more human! Hahaha! Might be funny but trueeee! I realized that my manner of dressing up is my way of connecting to the world, it's my outlet and it's helping.

Anybody who can relate with this? I’d love to know your story. :)

WIW: Saturday Summer Feels

0
It was a busy busy Saturday but I am not complaining. Last Saturday was so productive; it was a happy pill for me! The only thing that irritated me that day was the unwarranted SUMMER HEAT!! I believe the temperature that day rose up to 36.5 Celsius high! Thank God for air-conditioning!! As you may already know I AM NOT A FAN of SUMMER. One of the few good things for me that I love about summer is I am free to wear “lighter” and shorter clothes without being much bothered by the rain or the cold. It’s one season to give those layers a rest and simply put on a dress. My outfit last Saturday may not be a dress but it’s a perfect example on how someone should dress lightly! Haha! I am wearing a comfy printed sheer top from Miss Merie. It’s actually my lazy outfit, top and shorts, most especially these HOT summer days.

Another go-to outfit not just on summer is dresses! It’s so easy to just slip in a dress then off I go! I always enjoy creating and shopping for dresses. I frequently visit Polyvore as the choices on this site seem endless! But of course, it's more of a window-shopping online. Just last Saturday I was doing my rounds of gathering inspiration for my designs, and I chanced upon these pretty nice dresses and it actually caters locally!! I almost shopped!! I had to stop before I click on the proceed to payment button. Anyways, let me end it here before this crazy heat completely drain my energy as I have some dresses to make for my clients as well. :)

Miss Merie on Instagram: February

0

As mentioned, it was just like a passable month of February for Miss Merie. I had to decline prom clients (sayang =( I know) and some other clients, too, as the dressmakers are in full swing making two set of entourage dresses. Three of the above photos are clients, including moi, wearing Miss Merie pieces way back from our summer 2014 collection. The mother-and-daughter printed terno dresses are orders in January which just got handed last month. March started quite really good for this passion project of mine. The coming days look promising. =)

WIW: Valentine's Day 2015

0
Not exactly on the 14th of February but a day after, this is what I wore. Finally, I was able to wear my current chic purchase from Chic Curator (Instagram: @chiccurator), the green Marina necklace. Apart from scarves, necklaces are a favorite accessory, too. The dress is from Ensembles but designed by Vania Romoff.

Fashion Friday: Some Fall 2015 Ready-to-Wear Picks

0
It's that season of the year again when if only I could skip my day job just to marvel on the outputs of this world's fashion designers -- you know just open gazillion tabs on my browser and go through each and every piece and absorb them. It's the NYFW and LFW season! Below are just SOME of my picks on SOME designer's fashion collection. This world is filled with so much talented minds. I dream to attend one of their fashion shows someday. It's like really a long shot, but I still have a whole lifetime to live that dream. For now, I'll be satisfied browsing online sites and downloading the pieces that I dream to have in my closet or I wish I had thought of coming up with. Enjoy!

Carolina Herrera
The 75-year old designer gets out of her conventional zone, don't you think? I have read that nature was her inspiration this season.

Monique Lhuiller
Silk charmeuse and all about figure-hugging pieces for the bridal couture designer this season. I think she did great even though he veered away from her usual designs.

Jenny Packham
The collection is dark and heavily textured. Obviously my picks below are the least of the mentioned description.

Zimmerman
The past, obviously the 70's, was a major inspiration.

Miss Merie on Instagram: January

0
This year, I wish to talk and blog more about my designer side aka Miss Merie side. In all honesty, I am still not confident enough to claim the job title "fashion designer". It actually gives me the creeps just thinking of calling myself such, as I feel so unworthy -- because I know I am so trivial in that world; I feel so tiny and I certainly believe that I have a very very long way to go. But the good thing is I have taken some steps farther into reaching that destination. So sige na nga pwede na siguro fashion designer. Pero 'wag masyadong malakas ah haha!

A year into venturing into this dream of mine, I have been granted a lot of opportunities and I even had my FIRST EVER MISS MERIE bride just December of last year! With full entourage as well!! EEEP!! Just thinking about it still gives me that giddy feeling! Also, I was able to design a number of long dresses, release a humble summer collection, release a holiday collection through a collaboration and build/open my own fashion studio-slash-office or simply my headquarters (claiming big things will arise from this).

So anyway, the above photos are the designs/products and proud clients I had last month. The group of four photos above are some of the custom pieces for clients. Yes, since I am still on the early stage of my fashion career, I try to be open on different pieces from simple tops to long dresses, as long as I can design them!

From top to bottom: Chat Tacazon wearing two pieces from our Concrete Et Garden collection for a wedding; Dr. Iza Ramirez wearing a maid-of-honor dress for her sister's wedding; Tita Jean Bustos wearing a principal sponsor dress. That apple green accented gown is actually a favorite. I really like how it turned out.

The very bottom photo is a design sketch for a client. I can't wait to see this come to life!

I keep my Instagram account updated of my Miss Merie endeavor so follow me maybe?? Haha! My personal account is @mSheng12 and specifically @missmerie_online for more fashion-related posts from everywhere.

WIW: Scarf as Belt

0
One Saturday afternoon, after one client meeting and one gown pick-up I headed to meet the last batch of trainees I handled as a trainer from one previous job that I had. This is a group of girls I believe have played an important role on where am I now. And feeling a lot casual that day, I wore shirt and shorts to meet them. Then accessorized my scarf as a belt and put on red lipstick. I don't know why but I was feeling confident that day! Leaving with you my ggss feeling fashion blogger photos. Hahaha!

Bench shirt. Guess shorts (from my Mom which is once a pair of pants). Parisian mandals. Kenneth Cole Reaction bag.

WIW: Anniversary Eve

0
It was a quick getaway where else but in Tagaytay. It's colder these days hence the long-sleeved top that I wore and much more colder upon arrival in Tagaytay. This is what I wore on the day before our anniversary as we roamed around the nth time in this city.

Top - Mom's. Scarf from Singapore. Long skirt - The Berries.

0
Well, hi! And now I post my very first #ootd for 2015! Nothing really special. However, I feel glad as the current weather permits me to wear my scarves yay!!! Just like what I wore as I did some weekend duties. Don't you just love that wind effect on my scarf on the below photo? Hahaha! Anyway, it's the first weekend of 2015 and the last weekend to enjoy the holidays! Waaah!! Why do the relaxed and chill life have to end?? Anyway, hope everyone's having a good new year thus far.

My First Ever Unofficial Fashion Show

0
Our department's theme was Fashion Runway for the annual Christmas party held last December 14 at the Bellevue Hotel Manila Grand Ballroom. With this theme, I got the chance to work on our team's runway show which we themed "Pink Friday" - an incorporation of neon glow and pink. This theme is really nothing of my forte, which was supposed to be somehow eccentric, but I am very blessed and grateful to have this chance to showcase a few designs of mine on the runway.  And though it is not official, it was still a great and fulfilling feeling! So for this unofficial first ever fashion show, thank you FPRA and MCFA! What an experience and thanks a lot for my teammates most especially these models for their trust and cooperation.
Not really my designs for the guys but styled them with the help of Madz.
The designs for the ladies. Some were a mix and match of what these ladies already have in their closets. Two of these models are already mommies!

Fashion Friday: The LAST Oscar Dela Renta Spring RTW

0
Funny how I was thinking of posting my favorites of his latest runway show and then I read the sad news. I like Oscar Dela Renta for his dainty and feminine, polished and youthful designs. It is just saddening that this world lost another creative soul.

His Spring 2015 RTW collection is to my liking because of the simple silhouettes and yet combined with the right pop of colors and patterns, they were joyous to the eyes. Below are some of the pieces and my favorites.

I'll miss his works definitely. :(

Fashion Friday: Some Picks on Spring 2015 RTW

With the fashion calendar just beginning, and the just ended series of fashion weeks (NY, London, Milan, Paris) it was so hard to catch up on them all. Ya know stuck up in my corporate workstation for eight hours a day Haha! Anyways, here are my top picks on just a few collections. Ah not really top as I always find it hard to trim down my choices to a few. Haha! Starting from the latest fashion shows. Hayyyy I wish I have an extra 24 hours just to catch up, something like October 3.5 but it still has 24 hours in it, an invisible day between Friday and Saturday sort of.
