Bamba Bistro Birthday Dinner

0
Bambaaaaaa Bamba Bistro! Sister's birthday sumptuous dinner was at Bamba Bistro, guess where?? Still along Aguirre Avenue in BF Homes! I chanced upon this on one of Patty Laurel's blog posts. I have to agree with her positive review of the place and the menu. It was a Tuesday evening and still the place was packed! It is not big enough. We were already seated outside the reason why I don't have much photos of the place. One downside is the serving time which took about at least thirty minutes for a meal to be served. Hence, this might be a good venue for catching up, plenty of time haha! What we ordered that night was worth the wait and their prices.
French Fries Moderne - feta, honey, fried rosemary Php 190
I LOVE this!!!
Baby Back Ribs Php450
Bitin!!!
Crispy Lapu Lapu Php490
MOST LIKED dish that night! Yummy yummy crispy lapu lapu fillet!
Lamb Adobo Php395
An interesting take on lamb meat. I believe this is one must-try in their menu. The distinct taste of lamb meat is evident in this dish.

Father's Day 2014

0

June 15, 2014

This year's Father's Day Celebration goes Korean - our first time to dine in an "authentic" Korean restaurant as per my sister's request who have been somehow frequenting a Korean restaurant somewhere. Good thing there's one in Molito complex. It was yet again a good "first". So ganun pala pag Korean restaurant ang daming side dishes. Hahaha! Mama and Papa were so cute asking our server 'panu ba'to? para san 'to?' Hahaha!
Father's Day Cake
I enjoyed the leaves and the veggies and the fruit-veggies the most. I think, just like in Yabu and Saboten, I can already live with the side dishes. Ang dami pa pag Korean hahaha! For Korean food lovers out there, you might want to try it out here. It's a tad expensive than the usual as per my sister, but she did enjoy every dish we ordered. :)

Anyway, to my father who tries to make a way and work around things ever since the lowest days of our family, thank you. Thank you for being a father to the best that you can and not leaving us. We love you!!

Merie Eats: Abe

0
Abe, Serendra Fort
March 19, 2014
As mentioned in this blog post, two special people gave me a lunch treat at Abe and here are the food we ordered and consumed that caused us to overbreak hahaha!
Klassik Kare-Kare (Php595)
Tuna Panga Sa Bawang (Php320)
Chicharon Bulaklak (Php295)
Green Mango (Php95)
Halu-halo (Php125)
Overall, we found nothing really special yet the food tasted so-so good. It was a feast as nothing tasted bad. However, the Kare-kare didn't meet our taste's standards. Thanks again April and Edna!!

Book Club Session: Gone Girl Discussion

0
Fez, Serendra
March 1, 2014
What a productive night for the members of our book club! Ayyyy still no name though hahaha! It's our first book discussion session. Sy suggested the novel Gone Girl back on our first meeting last January and after a little more than a month, we met again to share our thoughts and feelings toward it.
Apart from reading books and merely discussing them, we also agreed that whenever we meet, we should choose a place that will remind us of the book we read. Or not necessarily a place, we could get creative as maybe eating a similar interesting dish that was mentioned and was a significant factor in the book, or we could experience a simple moment or an adventure that the characters of the book have experienced as well. Anything goes actually as long as it's related to the book. This is what makes me more excited for each book.

For our first book, we decided to just experience a place. We can't experience the psycho scenes or even the investigation, killing scenes hahaha! Hence, we tried to find a place similar to 'The Bar' in the book and we ended up in Fez in Serendra. It's not really a bar tho but at least we were seated near the bar of the restaurant. Not bad not bad. I like the place for its ceiling and the varied lamps lighting the place. The place has a warm vibe which greatly aided us in taking us back to those moments we were caught up with Gone Girl.
Of course we needed to eat and these are what we ordered. Not much food compared to the tons of talk we had. I guess we were engrossed with this session that the discussion made us full. Haha!
We have unanimous thoughts on this book -- greatly detailed and well-written. We liked the plot and the setting and though some of us already guessed "what happened" (I can't simply spill it here it would ruin the book for frist-time readers), the twist got us still. We all liked how psycho yet really smart and brilliant Amy was, hence how psycho-bitch the author was as well hahaha; and how stupid Nick was; and our feelings toward the different characters! Just like Amy, we got somehow obsessed with the details while we were talking about the book. I'll be posting a book comment on Gone Girl and maybe inject in it more of the discussion we had. Hopefully I could find time to refresh my mind and write about it soon.

This book is also in the process of being a movie. Yes, of course, we also talked about it and how we find the cast appropriate for the roles.Kinda excited to watch it!
After the book session, we ended up talking about a LOT OF THINGS (as usual even before we formed this book club). Other books, TV series, movies, etc. And yes, we are going to climb a mountain!!! Hooray for this book club! Haha! I had fun that night because apart from the usual loko-lokohan lang and trip-trip non-sense blabbing, we actually made sense! Hahaha! For a night I felt like I was/we were talking profoundly nakssss! I didn't really expect myself to be involved in a book club but hey it's not that bad!
Cheers to more book club sessions; to more eating; to more moments, experiences and adventures. Let's keep this going.

P.s. Parang ang lame ng post na to maybe my mind's brain cells taking care of the cohesive writing aren't functioning normal. Kulang na kulang na kasi sa tulog... Anyway I'll just reread this again some other time.

Mogu, Serendra
Feb 3, 2014
As mentioned in a previous blog post, this is where we ate in celebration of my sister's birthday. They went all the way to Serendra because it's near my workplace. I pass by this food place everyday but it's my first time to try this restaurant, they're first time too, and we were not disappointed. The below will show you what we ordered.
Ebi Tempura Maki (Php245)
Chicken Teppanyaki (Php295)
Carbonara (Php285)
It's the odd one out because I always want to try Carbonara haha
Grilled Salmon (Php425)
Ebi Tempura (Php205) and Mixed Tempura (Php290)
Sukiyaki (Php685) It's our favorite dish that night
We got this dessert for free cos it's Queza's birthday :)

It was a good first time given that my family, except for my sister, doesn't eat much Japanese food.

Coffees and Lunches: ArSy Spontaneity

0

It’s another one of those spontaneous lunch dates with ArSy (Arianne and Sy tandem hahaha) at nowhere else but where I and Sy work, BGC. Arianne has Kitchen’s Best as one of her must-try restaurants in her list so it’s where we lunched.

Merie Eats: Yin and Yang Champorado and Adobo Sunrise

2
One of the things I love about Early Bird Breakfast Club is their very-well presented food
It’s not my first time at Early Bird Breakfast Club. I love the quaint ambiance it gives. But there is still a lot of food in their menu for me to try out. Today, as I need to report to work on a Saturday, me and my partner decided to have a lunch-out at this place.

Merie Eats: Slice's Belgian Chocolate Champorado

0
Slice's healthy version of champorado in Belgian chocolate
From being in a one-meal-a-day fasting for five days, as much as I wanted to stuff myself with steak and lots of meat as I break the fast, it wouldn't be right to do so. Instead, I and Jezrah dined in Slice High Street, and ordered for myself their Belgian chocolate champorado and their yummy yema cupcake.

Coffees and Lunches

0
Meeting people and eating while catching up must be one of the good things this life has to offer. I feel delighted that all throughout this year, I was able to squeeze in such meet-ups despite the corporate-slave-busyness I have. Sometimes one just need to unwind through talking to different people and maybe gain new perspectives, insights, get encouragement, or allow someone to absorb whatever emotion you may emit. Tapos ikain mo lang in between! Life can simply be that amazing. There is this feeling of being blessed with great people; this is besides having a very supportive boyfriend.

November 15, 2013
Another impromptu cocol night with my lovelies. I just got back from Hong Kong so apart from the catching up, I took it as a chance to give them my pasalubong and our “friendship necklace”. Haha! And by the way, it’s been quite a long time since we last had our coffee session in this Starbucks branch we used to frequent years back.

Missed my lovelies!

Sabo-TIN!!!

0

Yay!! Finally, though a quick one, an eat-out with Tin pushed through! It was one nippy lunch-out at Saboten. It was a first for the both of us and we actually liked it. Since I’m not really a fan of Japanese cuisine, it was a good experience having tried out their tenderloin Katsu. Tin compared it to Yabu but I never had a chance to experience Yabu yet so I have no basis of comparison. Pero kung sa Tokyo-Tokyo icocompare, naman, so much better hahaha! All I know is that I liked the Katsu and enjoyed the unlimited cabbage. Haha!

Spa and Steak

0

Our second bonding session since the last time we ate at Red Kimono! I got to spend Saturday with my fellow BA ladies. We decided to try-out Ace Water Spa at Pioneer, Mandaluyong. We have no photos as it was prohibited. We had fun being played by the water. It was a tad tiring though but at the end of it, we felt relaxed.

Pagod ako, kumain tayo nang marami…”, he said.
“Nakaka-depress pagkatalo ng Spurs sa Heat, sa HEAT!! Of all teams!”, and so I agreed to quite splurge on food. By splurge, we mean, dining in restaurants apart from fast-food chains – splurge na yun.

219. Papa's Day 2013 feat Turon ala Mode

0

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!

Happy Father’s Day to my first ever superhero! Walang sinabi si Man of Steel sa Papa ko! Marrying my Mom is one of the bravest things to do – and it’s close to overcoming kryptonite weakness. Hehehe. Samahan pa ng panganay na tulad ko! Hahaha I kid of course. But being a father is not an easy job so props to my Papa!! He has to take care and guard us four! He drives for us and picks us up on those rainy days and even on normal days – literally and figuratively. He even acts as our mother sometimes. He never left us even if he may have reasons to! He’s not a perfect father, but he’s the best! This is more than just a movie line in a superhero installment but I owe you my life Papa. Naks!

213. After a Year

0

Last Saturday weekend, I was blessed enough to have time to bond with former officemates and also with my forever lovely girlfriends! It’s actually surprisingly sad and nostalgic realizing that the last time we were complete was a year ago! Finally finally, after 12 months in the making, our dinner date pushed through!

188. Precious Moments Moment

0

I was always curious whenever I see this spot whenever I pass along Gil Puyat/Buendia Ave. The huge Precious Moments signboard and life-sized statue in front get my attention every time. I was thinking if it was a dessert place, a tea house or simply a showroom of Precious Moments collections. Nevertheless I have wanted to go inside. I got the chance tonight. So everything I thought of what it is true plus it’s also a restaurant and a party place. As you enter the place, two cute life-sized Precious Moments statues welcome you and everything is just so nice and candies to my eyes. It was a cute, cozy, pretty, feel-good place to dine in We asked for the menu and we were actually surprised to see a lot in it. They have everything from appetizers to main dishes (beef, pork, chicken, seafood) to desserts. They also have a wide variety of drinks to choose from. We ordered Patatim just for the both of us but can actually serve as much as five people. I tried their Iced Macademia Choco Coffee drink which tasted really good. We haven’t got the chance to try any dessert as we are sort of chasing time.

And since I do not have photos to justify the imagery I am narrating, I do not want to dwell further just telling you things and living it to your imagination. I can’t wait to be back and try out their desserts and drinks as it seems like they have a whole lot to offer. And maybe take more decent photos of the place.

Say Hi to Luke's finger peeking on the lens. Haha! I can't just walk out of the place and not take any picture with them.

Orders: Patatim and we shared over a tall glass of Iced Macademia Choco Coffee
