222. Thankful Thursdays

1. It's been a packed weekend! I was able to bond with my high school friends and thankful that the friendship is still there after all those years! I've even known some of them for two decades now!! Also,  last Sunday was Father's day and we were able to squeeze in a quick but intimate celebration. These days that I and my sister are enslaved by our jobs, dining with the family being complete has become a rare precious moment.

Let's do this again! It won't hurt much if I try again right? This time I will nail it and I claim it. I lift it all up to Him and I will accept whatever His will is. This time it's a DO or DIE parang Game 6 lang Spurs vs. Heat NBA finals (which was so intense!) 

Today has been really kind to me. With 10 days left to join, I was able to sketch, search and choose fabric and send it to a dressmaker in two days! Two dresses. Praying that it would be sewn according to what's in my mind. I'm kind of excited to see the end product.

Happy Father’s Day to my first ever superhero! Walang sinabi si Man of Steel sa Papa ko! Marrying my Mom is one of the bravest things to do – and it’s close to overcoming kryptonite weakness. Hehehe. Samahan pa ng panganay na tulad ko! Hahaha I kid of course. But being a father is not an easy job so props to my Papa!! He has to take care and guard us four! He drives for us and picks us up on those rainy days and even on normal days – literally and figuratively. He even acts as our mother sometimes. He never left us even if he may have reasons to! He’s not a perfect father, but he’s the best! This is more than just a movie line in a superhero installment but I owe you my life Papa. Naks!

Books are my weakness. More so books on SALE! It’s that time of the year when I visit OMF Bookstore to abuse their sale! This year’s got to be the best so far; the best deal on OMF published books! I like reading fiction, but it’s always refreshing to read nonfiction too. While my mind gets to travel and cross that line between reality and fantasy on reading fiction, nonfiction somehow keeps me sane and still be in awe that there’s much more beauty in reality, and also helps in dealing the not-so-good part of it. I also like reading books written by anointed people, inspired and guided by the Holy Spirit, and books that bless not just my eyes and brain cells but also my heart and soul. I like devotionals too and I’ve been acquiring at least two each year. I also like Bibles in different colors and designs and versions! With all these said, OMF Bookstore is the place to be!!

212. Crazy Birthday Girl

Last Saturday, Chat treated us to a sumptuous lunch at Watami (Japanese cuisine) at Glorietta 1. We became more full of talks and laughs than what we actually ate. We missed each other that much and I bet Chat missed us THAT MUCH! Hahaha! We also headed to CBTL, still at Glorietta 1, to talk over our ice-blended drinks, Dax's treat hahaha! I love my friends hahaha!


After months of not seeing each other, this is the closest we could get to an “outing”. =D Thank God for Chat’s treat that we were semi-reunited. Right now, I could say that it's the best team I belonged to (or just yet). Our real friendship flourished and extended beyond the ‘team’. And back when we were all still part of the team, we were simply there for each other. How I miss my everyday-ness with them. Out of nothing, we could burst out laughing, bully each other “naturally”, literally act like kids around each other, and still be each other’s confidante and shoulder-to-lean-and-cry-on. Thankfully, it didn’t end inside the previous company’s walls.

This song gives me the desire to share it right away! It hasn't failed to cheer me up and smile on my own and think to myself and say a little prayer and thank God and praise Him on how amazing and wonderful He is conveying His love and message of hope and of faith in Him, His mightiness -- in songs such as this. Maybe we’re in a difficult situation, on the verge of quitting, going through hard times, on a spot when we question everything that’s happening in our lives – God says it’s not over. God is still working on it, we’re all still a work in progress including what situation we may be in right now. It’s not over, we’re closer than where we were before. God is in it and there are limitless possibilities – far beyond we can imagine! The song may not be that modern and as attractive as the contemporary songs but I hope that you’d set aside some of your precious time and listen to this wonderful song, read through the lyrics and believe, not in what you think the events will turn out to be, not in your circumstances, but what He can do, on who God really is. And here I am feeling fashion blogger when in fact this outfit is just a result of laziness-turned-out-fine. One lazy first-of-June morning, I was prepping to meet the dentist to remove the stitches of my gums. It was supposed to be a no-alarm-clock day, but I have to get up early for the early appointment, thus the laziness. Just a top and a pair of short pants – this is what I was thinking as I rummage through my clothes. Then I saw this top which I haven’t worn for over a year. It was a cheap top costing only Php50, scored by Mom directly from a dressmaker. Then I paired it to this high-waist pair of shorts from Divisoria. I liked how this outfit turned out so I thought of using the pair of platforms from Charles & Keith which I was also able to use only once since I bought it. And that is the lame history-slash-disclaimer why I’m working on this outfit post. Haha! It also so happened that the sister is around -- someone would unprofessionally capture my outfit shots. This is too much for trying to be hahaha!

Most of the time it's not what you wear but it’s how you carry yourself wearing it. The key is confidence. Cliché no? But seeing Carolina Engman (of FashionSquad.com) and her outfit photos, again proves that no matter how simple an outfit may be, the real beauty of it and the wearer exudes better with confidence. Each time I drop by her blog, which is a constant part of my blog rounds, apart from the really nice photos posted, I am amazed how she naturally models her outfits and how spontaneously her shots look like. Her style is nothing really extravagant or fancy (this is my opinion and I'm no expert on this, disclaimer haha) but I noticed some pieces that gets me every time when I look at her outfit shots: bags/clutches, sunnies, her hair and her lips and of course the clothes she wears!

I just want to share one aid in my devotion from Joyce Meyer pertaining to dreams and visions. I have read this a year (or two) ago and came across it once again today. I pray that whatever dreams or visions you may have, whether simple, short-term, long-shot, or almost-impossible, and if you’re on the verge of quitting, if that dream is placed by God in your heart, may you not give up on them. It’s one thing that no one can take away from you. It's one thing God would want you to accomplish. I pray that these words through its writer may help you as well. :)
