SAVED Festival 2014

0
October 11, 2014
Smart Araneta Coliseum

My third time to attend Saved Festival and finally with my churchmates!! :)

Booked our tix as early as its first day of release! And not to be dismayed it was an awesome worship night!!! It's the only Christian event I've been to that noone screamed "mooore moooore" towards the end, not because people are bored or bitin but because this event gave us a glimpse of how worshipping in heaven would be like - non-stop!! Victory Worship and Esterlyn bands lead the first part of the worship. A short message was delivered by Francis Chan. Finally, Israel Houghton lead the worship for the rest of the night. Waaahhhh gave me the same feeling of hearing them on my player. Such an anointed band! Blessed to have experienced this night.

With this pretty bunch! Wasn't able to see the rest of my churchmates!

Who am I that you are mindful of me & Soundtrack of my summer...

0
I almost forgot to post this since the day I wrote these entries, I had no internet connection, so, I'm just posting this now...
About: Aug 31 and BLG's mini concerts

AUGUST 31, 2008

The last day of August was astoundingly blastful (eh?!?!)

First – Praise & Worship Celebration

Babad... sa presensya mo.... Babad.. sa Iyong salita...

Magdiwang ang bawat nilikha, bilang pagpupuri sa Diyos na dakila, gamitin ang buong katawan, upang Siya ay papurihan!

... and many more songs! Obviously, the songs sang are all in Filipino. The right way to celebrate Praise & Worship on the last day of Buwan ng Wika is to sing songs on our native language. I’m always looking forward to every P&W celebration, even every Sunday’s P&W. I always want to sing praises, to worship, to shout, to dance to jump, under the anointing of the Spirit and knowing that the Most High appreciates what you’re doing for Him – for the joy of the Lord is my strength! Yun yung tinatawag na masarap ang feeling (it’s what you call the feeling is delicious ^_^ nice) Also, it’s lovely to look around and see the people of God in white dancing & singing like crazy – even the elders! And the youth... we were in front, near the altar and we were together and we were singing and we were dancing and we were jumping because we are insane people! We know right?! We needed to attend the 6:30 AM soaking so we rather attended the first service and we ate our early lunch at SM during the second service.

Second – the Special No.

I love last Sunday’s special no.! WL5voice’s performance was a superb! Ok, so, at first we were also curious of who’s this WL5voice?!?! Then later on, we have found out that they were our worship leaders, there were 5 of them that’s why WL5. Haha! Basta ang galing galing nila! (They’re so great!) I love the blending of their voices and seeing our worship leaders united in one power-packed performance, singing a medley of the most beautiful Tagalog worship songs (though I don’t even know the titles, haha!) and doing rotations on stage and the climax end part brought us, the congregation/audience, into a standing ovation! It is a once-in-a-blue-moon performance and chance as well. It was actually the first time they did this. So the youth were shouting MORE!!! Haha!

Lastly – YU2g 1st Evangelistic Youth Service

We thank the Holy Trinity for His manifestation last Sunday. For me, it is the best youth service YU2G ever had. We weren’t able to meet a count of 50 souls but 42 isn’t bad, right? And we pray that this 42 would continue to walk now on His path as they have received Christ in their hearts. The service started one hour late because we tried to invite more souls from the nearest mall and we were able to invite 5. And then the service took off with an opening prayer of course followed by a body-twisting game.

Then we had the praise and worship which was a WOW! Exousia (the band) prepared for this mentally, physically and most especially spiritually. They even have to practice/sleep overnight Friday night to early Saturday morning for this. Some did some fasting and this time they really were overhauled bringing them back to the most essential ‘gizmo’ of a band that leads a praise & worship – the HEART of WORSHIP – not thinking of who are watching, who are listening, how’s their performance, their talent, not all of these but they are on stage only for one thing – to GLORIFY HIM! Indeed, it was evident that service, the Spirit favoured them and is with them, with us. The line up was good for the ‘newcomers’. The P&W started with the conditioning by singing Heart of Worship. Then we sang Friend of God, we, with the move of the Holy Spirit went in front to do the actions of this particular song and some of the newcomers responded, and we know it’s not because of us. And then followed by the song Dancing Generation and this time it was the dancers who stood in front to dance the steps. Then the worship songs included Mighty to Save and Til I See You. It was wonderful wonderful wonderful!

The Word of God through Pastora Jenet was next in line. We chose her because she’s a frivolous pastor knowing the attention span of the young people, not to mention the newcomers. True enough, the Word of God wasn’t boring even for them. Ptra. Jenet was able to relay the message effectively to them, even making use of a movable board so she could draw illustrations. After which, we showed them a video clip of the modern version of what Jesus did on the cross and I’m blessed to see their reactions. I know their hearts were touched because I even saw some wiped some tears and I pray that from then on they would continue to realize God’s mercy, God’s loving grace for us and the proper way to respond. And then the most vital part of this service – the 42 souls receiving Christ in their hearts – praise God. Souls that are reunited to the Father, and hopefully hearts that were totally surrendered.

It didn’t end there! We still sang Friend of God (one song only because of the time constraint). And we had special numbers – one by Khrizel’s singing of Paramore’s song My Heart (yes, it is more of a secular song, but the band intentionally wrote this as a worship song) and Lovely sang Above All which brought cheers and standing ovation from the audience! By the way Lovely Grace (nice name noh?) is our administrator pastor’s 7-year old daughter. After which we had our merienda and chit-chatting with them.

(more photos of this service HERE)

My heart is filled with joy and with praises! I know each YU2G did their part but I know it was God, most of all, who was present all throughout the service that moved in each one of us. I pray for the continuous longing and thirsting of each YU2G. And I thank the Lord for continuously using me and I’m shouting MORE!!!

Who am I that You are mindful of me
That You hear me when I call
Is it true that You are thinking of me
How You love me it's amazing

And because I'm a fan I love BoysLikeGirls' songs...

Yesterday Last Sept. 3, I spent my first day of being a bum by going to Boys Like Girls’ mini concert at ATC (Alabang Town Center) with Julie, Julo, Dada & Marz. I was actually saddened by the situation. But hey, the concert was fun with BLG singing most of their songs that I love. It’s just that, the young people there. How I really wish to see them with the same hype on an event not like that. Ok, so I’ll stop – no one would get me anyway, haha! Anyhoo, moving on, it was indeed a MINI CONCERT because they only sang around 7-8 songs.

Hero/Heroine
5 mins. til midnight
Dance Hall Drug
Heels Over Head
Broken Man
Thunder
Learning to Fall
Great Escape

BLG were throwing guitar picks, mineral water – opened bottles of mineral water actually, and after their last song they threw away the drum sticks, their towels, and even the paper were their line-up was written. Gah, Martin and Paul are love! Haha!

After their concert, we hung out at our ever dearest McDo (oh puhleeez, transfat! Julo was craving for McDo!) and went back to ATC to shoot some photos. We actually waited for the mall to close. Also, we followed went to BLG's mini concert at Glorietta. Those really rich VIP kiddos! The passes were supposedly for US not yours! We went there early (as in early) hoping to get passes but we haven't got any. BUT (again) we found a spot good enough to be like we got passes. Bad side is no meet & greet for us (insert annoyed face here haha!) Also, good thing that we decided to just stay where we're seated because they really soundcheck-ed so early, they themselves...!!! Dada has this I'm learning to PAUL fall small poster or banner or whatever and she showed it up and Paul, yes PAUL, noticed her, and smiled at her and WAVED at her and then Dada had gone sooo crazy... Same song set list like in ATC only with Let Go added.

and here's errr a shot of BLG
(we captured videos mostly and not photos of 'em)

BTW, I had dinner with Martin Johnson inside his hotel suite at Intercon hotel. He's such a sweet guy...
(oh please wake me up)

Your voice was the soundtrack of my summer, do you know you're unlike any other? You'll always be my thunder, and I said Your eyes are the brightest of all the colors I don't wanna ever love another... You'll always be my thunder...

"before and after" is all that matters to me... :D

I’m looking forward to a post that would contain something like ‘Yey! We’re done with thesis defense and we passed it!’. I am so looking forward to it but all I can say what happened yesterday, at around between 10:00 to 11:00 AM, is still something I thank and praise God for. I don’t have BIG news to tell my parents, my friends, churchmates, classmates and to those who interceded for me, even to my blogmates. I don’t have something real BIG or something that would satisfy your and even my reading or hearing or comprehension. I know you’re already sort of getting what I’m trying to say here. *sigh* But but but I still thank the Lord for hearing our prayers. I’m still grateful to the Holy Spirit for being with us yesterday. We may not have achieved what we’re yearning for but God is still good that He never failed us and we did not end up to something worse than what had happened. As what we said yesterday, what’s more important is that we did our BEST (uhmmm...) and we entrusted our thesis and our defense to Him. And as what our yesterday’s ‘theme song’ state (with alterations):
We did our best, but I guess, our best wasn’t good enough, coz here we are back where we were before...

Enough of this thesis, I would like to spend my long weekend pondering on the much better things laid in front of me.

**********

You know why God gave us friends? It is because He wants us to know that apart from Him, there are other persons, who would carry with you your burdens, would lighten up your gloomy mood, would cheer you up when you’re down but would never force you to laugh or even smile when you feel like crying, but instead they’d cry with you. They are present to remind you that you are imperfect and flawed but they don’t mind, they accept you for who you are and you would hand-in-hand change for the better. These are all clichés, but true. So who are the persons (aside from my mommah) I first texted as soon as we’re done with the defense – my friends, orig4.

It’s been a while since we have been complete. The last time was February 14, 2008.

Then yesterday, the usual chill at Starbucks, Las Pinas then McFries attack at McDo, LP.

SONICFLOOD!!!

Another wonderful worship event. Another unforgettable night. Again wow! When someone is being used to glorify His name most especially when it comes to music, I can’t help but be blessed by them. Praise & worship is my all time favourite part of any Christian gathering or event. It’s the time you could sing your lungs out to please Him, to honour Him, to adore Him. And last Friday night, I praise Him for using Sonicflood to lead His people in worshiping. That night is one incredible night, AGAIN! They sang almost all the songs I want.

Open The Eyes of My Heart
Heart of Worship
I Could Sing of Your Love
Cry Holy
Lord of the Dance
Everlasting
I Want to Know You
God is Great

It’s not just the songs that made the night unforgettable. Rick shared how God moved and how God changed His life. He shared how God is the greatest physician of all. They also had an altar call (so, the Patron part was now open for all even for those who were in the Upper boxes). I was actually surprised that one of their guitarists and the drummer and Rick himself, went down the stage, together with the other pastors present, prayed for those who went in front, while the other members of the band played Heart of Worship. I find it uhmm peculiar and unusual. And also many souls were surrendered again to Him. Then after the altar call, it seemed like the night had just began. There were crazy worshipers inside the Big Dome insanely worshiping and lifting up their voices and their hands to the Most Holy One. The night ended with Sonicflood’s Lord of the Dance and an acappella singing of the song I Love You Lord. Also, the guitarists gave away their guitar picks and the drummer gave away his drumsticks...

If not because of the thesis defense the next day, I would have also been in the queue for the autograph signing. Pfft... Sayang talaga... (I might post another separate entry of last Friday night’s event...haha! and I would post the pics with it )

We had an Evangelistic Sunday service a while ago. We had Bill Aujero as our guest speaker. He is someone who had experienced God’s mercy and grace. He was a former New Bilibid prisoner and is notorious for leading ‘hold-ups’ and hi-jacking; he had been imprisoned for 19 years. But inside his ‘special room’, one night in the mid of July, 1978, he read Matthew 11:28:

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

He knelt and prayed to God, his heart was changed by God. He suddenly found himself sharing the Word of God to other prisoners, and He had been singing and composing songs about God’s move in his life. He had such a superb testimony. And since it was an evangelistic Sunday, there were souls who were brought to Him.

This only shows that whoever you are and WHATEVER your past maybe, God doesn’t count that. All He wants is that you come back to Him. And when God calls you, you can do nothing but follow Him.

Hmmmm... Now makes me excited for the upcoming Youth Evangelistic service.

Bro. Nelson Francisco’s (our church’s sound booth technician, in charge of everything related to sound system and musical instruments) internment happened a while ago. He is a faithful servant of God. He has been with CGM for as long as the church’s lifetime. He used his life in service to our Father. I know we would still be able to meet him up there.

Our life is short but our time is only enough to serve Him.

The release of white balloons have always been a part of Christian burial ceremonies.

Random Whateverisms

I'm done reading Breaking Dawn! Yey! But let me just give some comments. First, there is no Twilight Saga, only Twilight. It stops there. hehe. Second, BD is a 'comedy/humor' book. Third, reading BD is record-breaking, it took almost 2 weeks I think to read it compared to one week reading the first 3 installments. I'm quoting from someone named Mei, Stephenie Meyer was able to conceal the flaws of the BD. I don't like the 'pregnancy thingy'. I don't like the early marriage. There was no real battle!!! I was sooooo expecting a huge battle. So much expectations. But ok, I was able to appreiate BD a little naman... And it just so happened that it coincided with my thesis-ing.

YU2G were the ushers a while ago and we wore corporate attires! Yey! Cool, yeah?! Too bad, no photo evidence.

Tomorrow, I would attend dawnwatch prayer and since we don't have classes we will have fun at SM parking lot! Yey again!!! After only which I would worry about thesis...

I demand all baristas to kindly ask the right spelling of my 'Merie'.

The sky will fall the ground will give
through it all You will be faithful
friends may leave they come and go
this I know You will be faithful

You will always be the same
Your love will never change
You are the Everlasting
I will put my trust in You forever to be true
You are the everlasting

when beauty fades and slips away
for all my days You will be faithful
when I breathe my final breath
I find my rest in Your faithfulness

when all around us is falling into waste
when the earth is dying you cannot be erased
and I don't have to be afraid

You're the Alpha and Omega
You're forever, Everlasting
