Fashion Friday: D&G's Enchanted Sicily

0
Dolce & Gabbana's "Enchanted Sicily" for Fall 2014 R-T-W collection

I just looooooove this wonderful and indeed enchanting collection! Don't you? My eyes have been feasting on these pieces since it paraded the runway in Milan few days ago. The texture, the cuts, the embellishments, appliques everywhere! Some remained fairy-like flowy. If this collection aims to take its spectators to an enchanting world, it did take me there. I'm seeing the forest, the flowers, even weeds, moss, the trees, trunks, vines, all with an enchanting aura. I'm not good in giving reviews of collections, duh ano bang alam ko sa mga kung anu-anong terminologies and "technicalities". But this RTW collection got me.

Meet My Going-to-be Saturday Buddies

2
I have quite a no.of pending blog posts but I am giddy enough about this entry that I'm posting this one first!!! As mentioned in a previous Thankful Thursday entry, I have finally enrolled myself to a basic fashion design course! Tiny steps, Merie, tiny steps. The lucky school that would be adopting me (lucky talaga??) is the Fashion Institute of the Philippines. I've been eyeing this school since 2012. Thank God, they opened a branch in Makati! I got enrolled just last Saturday, Feb 22,  together with Micah and Mica, new-found friends! They are going to be my Saturday buddies two weeks from now together with those weapons in the photo above. I'll be with them every Saturday.

Thankful Thursday: 022014-022614

0
It was a rather huge week! This week I want to thank the Lord for giving me a new job opportunity. I also want to thank Him for allowing me to finally enroll to a fashion design course. Things are getting better and I'm putting my trust in Him in all of these. I also feel blessed that my boyfriend fully supports me on these changes. My family is also backing me up. Lord, just thank You!

And here's this week's compilation from http://gratefulmerie.tumblr.com

Boxed Rose

This has got to be the sweetest and most surprising heart's day I've had in years. We've spent four heart's day as boyfriend-girlfriend and this year's something special - 'cos we are joining the whole world in celebration! For the past three years, we didn't really celebrate more of just ate out and exchanged some sweets with each other. Last year though he gave me Zombie.

Recent Acquisitions

Say hello to a rather "splurgy" post here. I want you all to meet, Lisbeth, my DSLR camera. Some of you may already have an idea where I got the name -- yes, from that book adapted into a movie, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Hey hey! What if this DSLR "live" (I know it's an inanimate object okay... haha) to be like Lisbeth, very investigative, then it would come up with interesting photos! Hahaha! Anyway, I bought it ideally for business purposes. And we're excited to use this new baby.

Merie Eats: Vue Bar's Fish and Chips and Caldereta

0

And these are what we ate at Vue Bar (Bellevue Hotel Manila) for dinner. Nothing really special but it was better than just filling our tummies. We liked how they tasted like. The serving is generous enough. The Caldereta met our expectations, most especially of Luke's who loves eating this type of dish.

Thankful Thursday: My Design and I Hit Philippine Star :)

0
I was supposed to post this last week but because I was too busy at and off work, obviously I’m posting this just today. Pang-ilang post ko na yata ‘to pertaining to me winning Ensembles’ Wear My Design contest, since last year pa. But I couldn’t thank Him enough all because I still wasn’t expecting these things to happen months after winning.
Allow me to pour my sentiments related to this matter. Being part of a clan, most especially among the Clarete branch I am under, there is this pressure of having your name printed anywhere because you passed a licensure exam! Totoo! May mga ganong angkan, and I guess most parents would be so proud to see prefixes or suffixes added to their child’s name, seeing their child’s name online, on a board inside PRC, and in … newspapers. I remember that day when my sister passed the Chemical Engineering’s licensure exam; my parents bought newspapers right away; looked for her name; they haven’t done it yet, but we all know what comes next, it would be placed inside a frame. Yes! You may think it’s funny, but I had this frustration! However, unlike anyone else, I can’t bring myself to take up a course with a licensure exam. Well, I tried, but I just can’t.

I Couldn't Ask For More Year 3!!!

2
The Bellevue Hotel Manila
January 5-6, 2014

That title is now on its THIRD YEAR (Year 1, Year2)!!! Yes. It’s our third anniversary!!! Ano uulitin ko na naman? Who would have thought we would reach this far? Paulit-ulit? Haha! I must say, this has got to be the strongest year we’ve had. It was a year of adjustments, he on changing work shifts, I adjusting to my new job role, new job environment – both of us adjusting from the days we got used to to the year filled with changes. For the first two years, we were together every day— lunching together, walking home together, even literally working together, etc. No. Di ako nagsawa! In fact, the moment he left FPI, I longed for our “everydayness”. But that’s life!
Being away for most of the weekdays unlike it used to be, I can indeed say that absence makes the heart go PONDER – ponder where is he? Did he eat already? How’s he doing? Who is he with? Does he miss me? Sino kasama niya? Sino katext niya? Sino kausap niya? Hahaha iba pala!! May trust issues pala. :)) But those were partly true; those were part of the process. Of course, I worry more now that we’re away from each other. Well, in a good sense. Infairness, hindi pa ‘to LDR. Hahaha! But YES, it does make the heart grow FONDER. It gives the giddy feeling of finally seeing him again though I just saw him the other day, or the other week. What’s important is the constant communication, filled with trust, love and care, in between. We make it sure to find quality time, most especially on those weeks we didn’t get to see and bond with each other. Luke has been REALLY REALLY busy with his new role – reporting to work even on weekends. I have nothing really against it except when he got sick. BUT I feel so thankful he makes it sure to find time to check on me. There were times I felt like he found a new girlfriend in the form of his work PC. Hahaha I kid! But I have to understand. And I have to appreciate his trying to make time. He didn’t fail in that aspect.

WIW: Weekend no.3

0

Here’s another outfit post. It’s becoming a regular!! But in fact I don’t think I have any pending outfit post after this hahaha! Anyway, this is what I wore on the third Saturday of this year. That day, our book club had its very first official meeting. Weeks from then however, we still can’t think of a name! Hahaha! Help, anyone? This outfit is perfect for that weekend. It’s comfortable except that, again, I’m wearing a skirt so I can’t just squat anywhere. If you remember this post, I am wearing the same skirt, only in different color, which I bought from The Berries. I would love to have the rest of the colors but as I’ve mentioned many times, I. NEED. TO. SAVE. So maybe the skirt goddesses could just randomly send me a package containing lots of skirts in it. The striped cover is from Nava Ph which I especially like. I’ve been using it regularly since I bought it last year. I’m also wearing Necktee from Pompyang Tayo which can now be bought at Bratpack in Greenbelt 5. :) Of course the shoes, my first ever Sperry pair was given by my boss amo, the love of my life, my baby, my bebelgam, Luke. Siya talaga highlight ng post na to e hindi yung outfit hahaha! And yes, I loooove this pair!! And that’s it…. I’m done with this post!

Travel Tuesday: Bohol 2009 with The Family

0
Bohol
June 2009

Hayyyy, lately I’ve been longing to travel but no, I can’t. I have a lot of other matters on my shoulders and I need to start saving, as in really really save! Why is life so mean?? This kiddo here needs a lot of money, oh money money money! Haha! Anyway, here’s another travel throwback, part two actually of the previous Travel Tuesday. It’s been FIVE long years since this trip and my longing to go back to Bohol intensifies! Hayyyy! I need vacation!! I need to travel!!! Ok so going back, let these old photos with the nene me do the talking…
It’s a day at the beach. This is particularly in Dumaluan beach resort. We rented a cottage. It’s a fine-weathered day; perfect to just chill by the sea on the white sand.

Mesa and Sonja's before Julie's Mumbai Lovin'

0
Just another post for my sentimentality’s sake…

January 25, 2014
As Julie’s flying to Mumbai for a business trip, we had dinner together with the Garcia family at Mesa in Greenbelt 5. They serve sumptuous Filipino dishes! It was also fun bonding with Tita Beth and Tito Jed and Julie’s sisters, Angel and Grace. What a fun family to be with.

We are making the most out of Julie’s temporary company for now (lol she’ll be away for just a month hahaha!) and had our cupcake dose at Cupcakes by Sonja’s at Serendra.

It was another family dinner feat my boss amo, Luke. We had some Japanese cuisine at Mogu in Serendra, and we enjoyed the food!! Maka-Filipino food ang pamilya ko so the fact that we enjoyed every bit of what we ordered is something new. Hihi!

Skye with HS Loves

January 25, 2014

Yayyy another night out with my high school barkada! Chi, who’s now working in Singapore, had a week-off and visited our humble country. Thus, this night out at Skye., It was a first for most of us and we like the place the ~ambiance~.

Official photos from Skye's Facebook page

We took photos and did some catching up with each other. We were not complete but most of us were there. Actually, I was sickly that night and we have to leave early. Boo me. Sayang we were enjoying the company and the place. Here are the photos:

WIW: Going Back Escolta

0

What I wore during our second participation in 98B Collab’s Future Saturday Market in Escolta. I know I’m a bit overdressed but couldn’t care less I just want to feel good that day. The skirt is from Kashieca which I bought a year ago but it was my first time to use it. I have that tendency hahaha and my Mom scolds me for it. I also like this midrib blouse I purchased in last year’s Noel Bazaar in WTC. If only I could use midribs every day. If there’s one thing I should be proud of my body is that I have a flat tummy. Yun nga lang inexistent boobs and butt, ayun flat din hahaha! At least I don’t look like a bulate but sometimes I do look like that alien from the MIB movie when I just ate an awful lot, yung lumalagpas na yung tummy ko sa boobs ko. Anyway, why was I even discussing this? Aaah I was saying I like midribs because I’m not bothered if my flat tummy is having a lot of exposure haha! Anyway, summer’s near so I’ll have a reason to wear such tops again. :D

Christmas Party with Kalibs

2
IT"S SUPER LATE but I thought of posting this just because it’s the first time that I was able to bond with Luke’s college friends. Though Luke joins my circle of friends’ eat-outs and happenings from time to time, it’s not the case otherwise. I was already able to dine with them after watching a UAAP game but this time around I got to well spend more time with them. It was their Christmas party December 21 of last year at Music Bank and what to do there? Sing the night away. We had coffee afterwards too. looking forward to meeting them again, right, Luke? :P

Not complete photo though

WIW: Purple Necktee

0
What I wore before changing to my retro-themed outfit for the company Christmas party last year. I needed to go to the party venue earlier than the rest because we needed to rehearse the full choreography and also practice our stage blocking for our dance number. I especially like how this outfit emphasized my purple necktee. It’s a good scarf counterpart. I discovered them when TDC participated in 98B Collab Saturday Future Market. They are also available in Bratpack in Greenbelt 5. Anyway, this was a really comfy outfit I wish I could wear at work every day!

To The Best Sister

0

Happiest birthday to my brilliant, smart, witty and beautiful wacky-patootie-sister-engineer inside and out! Thanks for being the best sister I could possibly have! Thanks for all the love and the care and the support system that I needed. I love you more than you know. I’m sorry for my shortcomings as the Ate. Thank you for always understanding my bipolarity. Thanks for not giving up on me, not giving up on our crazy family. I’m claiming great things ahead of you. With your genuinely kind heart, God-given wisdom, smart abilities, I know you’ll go a long way. I know you’ll be successful in whatever undertaking you decide to dive into. Just always be strong and I might not seem like it, but I’m always here. I love you so much, Queza. Sisters forever! No choice ako haha! But please stop jumping up and down on my bed just to wake me up; or forcing me to watch crazy Youtube videos. You never fail in annoying me in whatever possible way you can think of, matanda ka na ayoko na nyaaaan hahaha!

No. 1

0

Curves and dark lines;
Something’s not fine.
Circles and swirls;
my mind is in a twirl.
Dirtied colors,
this life needs favor.
The beauty of such,
let me view the whole paper.

Merie Eats: First Time at Kitchen's Best

0
The latest restaurant I’ve tried, with Arianne and Sy, is Kitchen’s Best Patisserie (the one located at McKinley Park Residences. And here are we ate.
Roast Beef in Mushroom Gravy Sauce
Thin slices of top sirloin beef roasted to perfection covered with mushroom sauce (Php275.00)
I ordered for myself their Roast Beef in Mushroom Gravy Sauce. It tastes normal for my taste buds – nothing really special. I should have ordered their bestseller one but I must admit I wasn’t prepared to splurge. Hahaha! But due to my grumbling tummy, my meal somehow felt short. Haha!
