151. Monday Musings: From Now On

The truth is, the greater part of your happiness or misery depends solely upon your attitude towards any given moment, regardless of the events contained within. You need much less than you think you need to be happy, and you usually have a lot more than you think you have. There’s always something worth smiling about. It’s just a matter of thinking differently. (Marc and Angel)

It's hard isn't it, being always happy, trying to embrace positivity because we are mere humans and our emotions most of the time are the reasons of our downfall. It may be hard to be thankful having a two-peso donut bought from some lowly bakery when you see someone deliciously munching on a donut from J Co.

It's really not easy facing everyday. A new sunrise comes with a lot of surprises but that's what life is really all about. Facing each day, each passing moment without knowing what a minute from now will bring. Life's hard. As a song line goes "Nobody said it was easy..." But as the quoted above says it's the attitude towards whatever is as of the moment that defines you and brings the difference. Why look at that J Co donut? Just remove J Co and you still have the donut. Others don't even have the chance to buy a donut and funny that others would still want that 'unbranded' donut over that branded one, and others don't even know what a J Co is (talk about ignorance is bliss).

It's all up to us. It's within us. It's all within our means. It's in our own vicinity. It's actually within our reach to get past any day being anything but miserable.

Today, I'm not choosing misery. I'm embracing what God has intended for me. And it doesn't mean that it's all fun. That's not who our God is. I'm embracing everything He has intended for me, adn yes, this may include trials and sorrow. Because whatever those are, at the end of the day, He knows not just better but the BEST, the best for me.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” -John 16:33
